Power System Operation and Management Virtual Laboratory

OPTIONAL OFFLINE SOLVER PACKAGE

No separate software installation required.

The package contains 64-bit Python 3.12.10 and the Open Distribution System Simulator (OpenDSS) runtime through DSS-Python/OpenDSSDirect, with FastAPI, Uvicorn and Pydantic. Analytical activities work in the browser; OpenDSS-based studies use the optional package for full solver operation.

One-click launcher

  1. Download and fully extract the ZIP.
  2. Open the extracted folder.
  3. Double-click START_VIRTUAL_LAB.bat.
  4. Wait for the OpenDSS self-test to pass, then keep the backend window open.

Syllabus boundaryThe 13-practical list follows GTU DI05000191: per-unit quantities, transformer tap control, economic dispatch and sharing, HVAC/HVDC, reactive compensation, FACTS voltage/power-flow/stability studies, demand-side management, load curves, demand response, and renewable-energy plus battery microgrid operation.
